Anchorage area highways - harbingers of accidents

The highways of Alaska in the surrounding areas of Anchorage are becoming more and more treacherous as the winter sets in. Adding to the natural dangers of the highways is the influence of alcohol.

There have recently been a flourish of motor vehicle accidents along the Seward Highway and the latest involved a drunk driver. Both vehicles were totaled in the head-on collision which occurred at the intersection of the Seward and Alyeska Highways. Alaska State Troopers acknowledged that one of the drivers was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

The Anchor Point man injured himself and the two passengers in his vehicle as well the driver of the other vehicle. No charges have yet been made, but the troopers are passing along the information to the appropriate district attorney's since the man has yet to be released from the hospital. Three of the injured were transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.

It has been a busy time of year for Kenai Peninsula troopers as this collision comes on the heels of numerous other accidents, some fatal, in recent weeks. The highways are already dangerous and the inclement weather seems to be adding to that danger and increasing the volume of accidents that occur.

If you happen to find yourself in a situation where you have been hurt in an accident caused by someone else, please contact a personal injury attorney. Individuals that work with a personal injury attorney are more likely to find just solutions to their injuries and the difficulties that accompany them. The attorney can also help guide you through your options.
