Alaska sleepy driver causes 3-car accident

Most Alaska residents know that when the negligent acts of one driver leads to the injury of others, the law provides steps of financial recourse for the victims and their families. A car accident in Alaska has occurred involving a sleepy driver, a motor home and another car that were going in different directions. Preliminary reports suggest that a 42-year-old woman was feeling quite sleepy as she was driving along the Sterling Highway.

Authorities arrived on the scene of the accident to conduct an investigation. It is reported that the driver dozed off into complete unconsciousness when her car cut across to the other side of the highway. The car struck another vehicle which ended up flipping over. The vehicle also struck a motor home. The amount of damage done to the motor home was not been reported.

Other drivers stopped to help the woman and her husband get out of the car before it went into flames. The type of injuries the woman sustained was not released. However, several other victims with mild injuries were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The details of the exact type of injuries the other victims sustained are unclear.

A car accident can be a physical, mental and financial burden -- both for the victims and their families. Financially, a car accident victim may not be able to work and could sustain lost wages from employment, as well as incur medical expenses. A victim may also experience pain and suffering related to their injuries. The civil court system in Alaska typically adjudicates these types of lawsuits based upon evidence that the injuries that resulted were caused by the negligence of another party.
