Alleged drunk driving accident kills woman in Alaska

Over the last few years, public service announcements regarding the dangers of drunk driving and benefits of wearing safety belts have filled radio and television airways. With the bombardment of information, it is almost impossible for people to be ignorant of these issues. However, despite these efforts, people are still willing to take risks regarding their safety in these matters. Now, a woman has been killed as a result of an alleged drunk driving accident in Alaska.

The accident occurred in the early morning hours of mid-July. A 29-year-old male driver was traveling in a pick-up truck with two female passengers. According to police reports, the driver lost control of the truck. The truck flipped several times.

The driver and one of the passengers, neither of whom were wearing a safety belt, were ejected from the car. The driver suffered serious injuries, but the 32-year-old female passenger died as a result of her injuries. The third passenger was injured, but is expected to survive. Police suspect that both speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.

Over the next few weeks, police officers will likely complete a full investigation into the incident; criminal charges against the driver of the car may result. In the meantime, the injured woman and the family of the deceased woman will likely face difficult financial repercussions as a result of the alleged drunk driving accident. For the survivor, there may be medical bills as well as lost wages as a result of missing work while recovering. The family of the deceased woman now faces funeral expenses and, potentially, the loss of her income. A verdict in their favor in an Alaska civil court could help provide compensation for these unexpected financial burdens.
