Alaska aviation accident kills 1 and injures 2

Though plane crashes occur less often than car crashes, the injuries sustained from them can be more extensive. Airplanes are almost as common as cars in Alaska, which often leads to an increased aviation accident total each year. These accidents can be caused by the pilot, the hazardous Alaskan weather, or a malfunction in the airplane. Unfortunately, a recent aviation accident killed one person and injured two others.

On Oct. 17, a small Cessna airplane crashed shortly after taking off around 5:30 p.m. Police arrived soon after the crash occurred, and eventually found the plane wreckage. Three people were rescued from the crash and transported to a nearby hospital. One of the victims was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the hospital.

Authorities stated that weather was not an obvious cause for the accident. The crash destroyed a fence at the end of a runway, but that is expected to be replaced in the near future. The NTSB is currently investigating the crash to determine the cause.

Once investigations are completed by the NTSB and Alaska police, the two injured victims of the aviation accident may have the right to seek restitution, depending on the circumstances surrounding the accident. If damages are awarded to the two injured individuals, they could use it to pay for any hospital bills that are accumulated during their time spent there. Hospital bills, along with other expenses that follow a serious accident, can cause much stress, especially if the injured person is expected to miss an extended amount of work. Reimbursement would aim to relieve some of this stress.
