Alaska car accident only injures driver

Drunk driving can often lead to very tragic accidents that can leave those involved with very serious injuries or even worse. The effects of alcohol often hinder drivers, which can include slowed reaction time and impaired vision. This does not mix well with the hustle and bustle of urban traffic or the fast speeds of highways. Unfortunately, a car accident in Alaska recently left one man with injuries after he decided to drive under the influence.

The man was traveling south when he crashed his vehicle around 7 p.m. on Nov. 2. It was reported that the man originally veered into the ditch beside the road. This action was followed by the man pulling out of the ditch and crossing to the other side of the road, where he hit a second ditch and crashed into an embankment.

The man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. His vehicle suffered extensive damage as well. The police determined that alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Luckily, this car accident did not involve anyone else. Although the Alaska man did suffer injuries, things could have been far worse. In similar cases where other people and vehicles were involved, financial reimbursement has been awarded to injured parties to help compensate them for their injuries. This restitution is typically used to pay for hospital bills from the accident. Fortunately, this particular drunk driver did not come into contact with any others on the road that evening, or he could have injured -- or even killed -- innocent people.
