Pedestrian accident in Alaska leaves person injured

Negligent drivers are often a significant cause of accidents in Alaska. The majority of these accidents could probably be avoided if the driver would simply pay attention to the road, instead of whatever else might be distracting them at the time. Unfortunately, this often means that other people involved in the accident can be left with senseless injuries. A recent pedestrian accident left a bicyclist with injuries in Anchorage.

The accident occurred on Oct. 24 when an older gentleman was struck by a car while riding his bicycle. He was attempting to cross a busy street while riding through a crosswalk when he was hit. The driver of the motor vehicle, a 59-year-old man, was making a right turn when he hit the bicyclist.

Although the cyclist was reportedly wearing the proper reflective gear as well as a helmet, he was still struck by the vehicle. The man's injuries were initially characterized as non life-threatening, and the driver of the car was not injured at all. The current condition of the bicyclist is unknown.

The Alaska victim of the pedestrian accident retains the right to seek monetary reimbursement for the injuries he suffered from the crash. Any amount awarded could be used to pay for any hospital bills and related rehabilitative costs. This can often relieve some of the stress that new bills can place on a person injured by the apparent negligence of another party, thus allowing the man to focus on healing rather than how to pay for the expenses that accrue.
