Man arrested in Alaska for his involvement in pedestrian accident

The United States judicial system does everything that it can to make sure that those who are convicted are actually guilty. Although this is often a wonderful characteristic of the judicial system, it can also mean that the families of the victims can be left on an emotional roller-coaster for an extended period of time. One such case may finally be coming to an end since a man was recently arrested for his involvement in a pedestrian accident that killed an Alaska man.

The accident took place last year in September when a man driving a semi-truck struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street. The pedestrian was an 81-year-old man from Alaska. The driver left the scene of the accident and was unidentified until shortly before he was arrested in January.

No one else was injured in the accident. The truck driver was arrested on Jan. 17 after a man who was riding with him allegedly came forward with information. The truck driver pleaded not guilty to the charges that were brought against him.

Regardless of whether or not the man is found guilty for his involvement in the pedestrian accident, the family of the Alaska victim may have the right to seek monetary compensation for the loss of their loved one. Compensation could be used to pay for the victim's final expenses. Although no amount of money will heal the emotional wounds with which the family is left, compensation could help relieve any stress and anxiety placed on the family by mounting unexpected expenses.
