Alaska accident causes wrongful death of one person

Pedestrians are always at risk of being injured or killed if they are traveling near a road, but sometimes accidents can be much more detrimental for a pedestrian than those that are occupying a vehicle. The lack of protection that pedestrians have when involved in an accident with an automobile can leave them seriously injured or even killed. One accident in Alaska recently caused the wrongful death of one pedestrian.

The accident occurred during the night of May 4 at around 11 p.m. and involved one pedestrian and one motor vehicle. The accident took place after the pedestrian suddenly attempted to cross the street, but was struck by the driver of the car. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident soon after it took place and transported the victim to the hospital.

The victim passed away soon after arriving at the hospital, but no other injuries were reported. The driver stayed at the scene of the accident until police arrived, but no citations have been issued at this time. The accident is under investigation by Alaska police at this point in time.

Although the initial investigation of the accident showed that the victim appeared to suddenly move in front of the vehicle, the family of the victim may want to have more specific answers about what occurred. Other families facing these types of circumstances have sought help to assess their rights under the law. Once a full investigation has been completed, evidence may suggest that the driver was partially at fault for the collision. If this is the case the family of the victim may have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit based upon those findings.
