Drunk driving accident in Alaska kills 1

Car accidents that cause even the slightest of injuries can be difficult to deal with, but if they are caused by a senseless reason it can be even more frustrating. Drunk driving is one of the most common causes for avoidable car accidents, and can leave all of the accident’s victims wondering why they were involved in such an irresponsible act. Unfortunately, a drunk driving accident in Alaska recently injured one person.

The accident took place on Aug. 23 at around 12 p.m. and involved two motor vehicles. Initial investigations showed police that the first driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and collided with a second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle, a 51-year-old woman, was arrested for drunk driving after the accident.

The accident left the driver of the second vehicle, a 47-year-old woman, with minor injuries. The current condition of the woman is unknown at this time, but the other driver was taken to the hospital and promptly released into the custody of the Alaska police. The accident closed the highway for around 30 minutes after the accident took place.

Regardless of whether or not the driver is charged for her involvement in the drunk driving accident the injured victim may have the right to seek monetary compensation for both her physical and emotional injuries. Although the physical injuries received from an accident may seem minor at first, they could be more serious than originally thought or even lead to severe emotional pain. Compensation could be used to supplement the woman’s income if she is unable to work because of either type of injury, and could pay for any medical attention that is necessary.
