Drunk driving accident in Alaska kills 1 person

Pedestrian accidents occur on a daily basis throughout the United States, and some of these accidents are severe enough to injure or even kill those involved. The small profile of a pedestrian can often make it difficult for drivers to see him or her if the driver is not paying attention. However, if the driver is under the influence while operating a vehicle, the probability of an accident is greatly increased. One such drunk driving accident recently took the life of a pedestrian in Alaska.

The accident occurred on the early morning of September 20 just before 2 a.m. and involved one vehicle and a pedestrian. Initial investigations showed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by the driver. The driver then attempted to leave the scene of the accident but was found with the help of bystanders.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the pedestrian, a 54-year-old man, deceased. No other injuries were reported, but the driver was arrested after the collision. The accident is currently under investigation by Alaska police.

Once the police have finished their investigation of the drunk driving accident, the family of the deceased man has the right to seek monetary damages for the loss of life they have experienced. Compensation could be used by the family to pay for any final expenses of the deceased victim. This could also give the family a small sense of justice for the unexpected death of the victim and relieve any stress that comes from hospital bills.
