Plane crash injures one pilot at Alaska airport

A plane crash occurred recently between two Cessna aircraft at an airport in Alaska. Both planes were in the air at the time of the accident. Only one injury was reported as a result of the plane crash.

Both planes were in the process of landing on the runway and were only approximately 100 feet off the ground when they collided. The first plane contained the pilot and four passengers; no one aboard was hurt in the crash. The pilot of the second plane was the only person aboard and was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. His injuries were reported as being non-critical.

Each plane was heavily damaged in the crash. The first plane was one of the airport's air taxis, and the passengers had been on a scenic air tour. The second plane was privately owned. There was no statement by authorities as to which pilot was at fault.

Although stated as non-critical, the extent of the second pilot's injuries were not given. If it is revealed he was not at fault for the plane crash, he may be able to seek financial compensation from the airport to cover his physical injuries and any mental suffering incurred. Likewise, the passengers from the first plane could file a lawsuit against the airport for mental anguish the crash may have fostered, no matter which pilot is found to be responsible. In seeking monetary recompense for physical and/or mental distress, some clarification of the law may be required when filing a suit in Alaska.
