Car accident kills Alaska woman, injures other driver

Accidents can happen anytime and nearly anywhere. They can involve several vehicles and cause a lot of damage, along with serious injuries or even death. A recent car accident between two vehicles reportedly included the death of one driver and injury to the other one.

Reports indicate that a 31-year-old Alaskan woman in an SUV was traveling south as another vehicle, driven by a 39-year-old man, was heading toward the SUV from the opposite direction. For an unknown reason, the SUV veered into the path of the northbound driver, who was unable to avoid the resulting crash. When the two vehicles collided, the SUV flipped over and came to rest in a ditch. Officials have already ruled out adverse road conditions as a factor in the crash since there was no ice on it at the time. Police in Kenai are still attempting to ascertain the cause of the accident.

The woman who was behind the wheel of that vehicle perished at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle survived, but suffered injuries that were only described as not threatening to his life. Even though his injuries may not threaten his life, he could still require significant recovery time.

The surviving driver in this fatal car accident may want to consider exercising his right to file a personal injury action against the estate of the SUV driver. Any money he might be awarded could go toward costs for doctors, hospitals or therapy needed because of his injuries. Those in Alaska who have been injured as a result of negligence on the part of another person should seek counsel from a professional with knowledge of laws pertaining to personal injury.
